So Very, Very Wrong...

A few of years ago shoe designer Steve Madden was convicted of tax fraud and sent to the big house. As part of his sentence he was required to step down as CEO of his shoe company and instead made himself a creative consultant to said company. He recently was released from jail, early for good behavior, which of course because how much trouble could a shoe designer make in jail? I bet he went to cushy jail anyway. That's not the point. The point is that I read somewhere how excited people were that he was out so he could revitalize his shoe empire with his genius designs. This is from the spring line:
Really? Me thinks that with designs like this, Mr. Madden should be sent back to jail because this is just butt ugly. Who needs a high heeled sneaker? That's a 3 inch heel! And don't get me wrong, I love a 3 inch heel but still. This reminds me of those pink high heeled construction boots that were all the rage a few years ago (maybe those were his too, he wasn't on my radar screen then) so not only has this sort of thing been done before, it has (altough I am loathe to say it) been done better. Because even though both designs are ridiculous and ugly I have to give the edge to the contruction boots because at least they were boots to begin with and the idea of a heel is only slightly less absurd than on a SNEAKER. There will be no sneaking of any kind in these shoes, I guarantee that.

What's even more scary is that zappos.com is sold completely out of these and stevemadden.com has only size 10 left in both colors.
It's so very hard having taste in a world so completely devoid of it...

the older i get, the less i get heels, no matter how much Tina Turner instructed us on how to dance in high heels. But ugly...it's all part of the costume effect. I'm a natural at that.

If you are short, you could use those shoes to add a couple of inches on the basketball court.

They look like prison issue sneakers...only with laces, and a heel!

I think his heels are very uncomfortable. I wonder if he wears them.
